Green Jobs and the Green Economy in the Agrifoods Sector

Agricultural Youth Green Jobs Initiative

The Agricultural Youth Green Jobs Initiative will help fund internships for post-secondary graduates working in the agriculture industry. These internships would include activities or projects that benefit the environment. Please note that this is not a summer employment program.

Funding is available through two programs:

  1. Green Farms Stream – The Green Farms Stream funds internships on farms to support environmentally beneficial management activities. These internships must be at least four months in length and be completed by March 31, 2017.You could receive up to a maximum of $10,000 per intern under the Green Farms Stream.
  2. Green Internships Stream – The Green Internships Stream funds internships to undertake environmentally beneficial activities, services or research in the agricultural sector but not restricted to farms. These internships must be at least four months in length and be completed by March 31, 2017.You could receive up to a maximum of $16,000 per intern under the Green Internships Stream. Non-profit entities with five permanent employees or less could be eligible for up to 80% support. Non-profit entities with more than five employees may be considered for up to 80% support on a case-by-case basis.
